Rep. Pasch, Wisconsin State Assembly Present Gigi Pomerantz with Hometown Hero Award
Representative Sandy Pasch (D-Whitefish Bay) presented Gigi Pomerantz with the Hometown Hero Award on behalf of the Wisconsin State Assembly on Thursday.
Gigi Pomerantz, a Glendale resident, has been assisting communities in Haiti since 2006 and founded Youthaiti—an organization dedicated to helping and encouraging young Haitians in their development of ecological projects in sanitation and water-source protection, community gardening, and reforestation in their own communities. She recently returned from a trip to Haiti to assist with relief efforts in wake of the January earthquake that has devastated the nation.
“It is my distinct honor to present Gigi with the Hometown Hero Award, as her passion for social justice is truly unparalleled,” said Rep Pasch. “Whether it be in Milwaukee or Haiti, Gigi has demonstrated an remarkable commitment to serve her community and improve lives of those across the world.”
Gigi Pomerantz is a Nurse Practitioner who has practiced in Milwaukee for almost 30 years. She also practiced in Israel for three years, where she lived with her family. Gigi has been involved in non-profit and social justice work for many years, serving on the boards of the American Jewish Committee and Tikkun Ha-Ir, both Jewish agencies focused on the issues of justice and human rights in the city of Milwaukee.
