Nicolet drops sectional final to Grafton in pitchers' duel
Grafton got a nine-strikeout, three-walk performance from Milwaukee Brewers draft pick Conor Fisk and defeated Nicolet 1-0 Saturday afternoon in a WIAA sectional final at Cedarburg.
Grafton scratched out an unearned run in the fourth inning for the only run of the game.
Nicolet's best scoring chance occurred in the bottom of the sixth, when the Knights loaded the bases with one out. But Fisk induced a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning.
Nicolet also had two runners on base with two outs in the seventh inning, but Fisk ended the game with a strikeout.
Nicolet's Max Kramsky allowed only three hits in throwing the complete game. He had four strikeouts and four walks.
With the win, Grafton advance to the state tournament in Stevens Point, which starts on Wednesday.
