Homestead softball players dominate NOW All-Suburban Team ballot
Five players, coach Keel nominated
Five softball players from Homestead High School - along with Highlanders coach Dave Keel - are in the running for spots on the 2010 NOW Newspapers All-Suburban Softball Team, and your vote could help get them there.
The high school softball regular season has just wrapped up, and, as we've done for more than two decades, NOW Newspapers will honor the top players in the suburban Milwaukee area with its All-Suburban Team. Fans will have a say in who makes the team throughout online voting.
Among the players appearing on the ballot are infielders Britt Schlaeger and Michelle Zoeller; outfielder Siena Mitman; pitcher Bekah Rennicke; and catcher Amy Keel. Schlaeger also is nominated for Player of the Year, while Dave Keel is one of three people vying for Coach of the Year. No other school has as many team members nominated as Homestead.
Go online and check out our nominees for the team, and then vote for the players and coach you think are most deserving. You can vote once a day, and everyone who votes will be entered in a random drawing for one of three pairs of box seats to an upcoming Milwaukee Brewers game.
To vote, visit MyCommunityNOW.com or your local NOW site and check out the stats and profiles of the players nominated at each position. Then cast your vote for one player at each position, as well as a Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.
Votes cast by fans will count for 25 percent of the overall vote; votes from the NOW sports staff will account for the rest. Voting will end on Sunday, and the All-Suburban Team will be announced June 24.
