Think your Village Board, Common Council or School Board is spending too much or too little money? Want to have a say in the decisions that affect your day-to-day life?
It's time to consider running for local office. Nomination papers are available today at your local village or city hall for village boards or city councils and for municipal judge positions.
A campaign registration statement and declaration of candidacy are available at your school district offices. All papers should be filled out by 5 p.m. Jan. 3. Additional information on running for office is available at the respective government offices.
Vacancies for the April 3 election are listed below. A primary election will be held Feb. 21 if necessary.
Bayside
Village Board - two seats now held by James Peterson and Daniel Muchin. Both plan to seek re-election. Trustees serve three-year terms and earn $1,600 a year. Village Hall is at 9075 N. Regent Road.
Brown Deer
School Board - three seats now held by Dennis Lowder, Michael Bembenek and Leslie Galloway Sherard. Lowder has announced he will not seek re-election.
The term of office is three years with an annual salary of $3,100. The school district office is at 8200 N. 60th St.
Village Board - two seats currently held by Tim Schilz and Bob Oates. Trustees serve three-year terms and earn $3,600 a year. Village Hall is at 4800 W. Green Brook Drive.
Fox Point
Village Board - two seats currently held by Beverly Bell and F.R. Dengel III. Trustees serve three-year terms and are not paid. Village Hall is located at 7200 N. Santa Monica Blvd.
Glendale
City - Mayor, currently held by Jerry Tepper and aldermanic districts 2, 4, and 6, currently held by Daniel Sweeney, Richard Wiese and JoAnn Shaw, respectively. The mayor serves a three-year term and earns $5,700 a year. Aldermen serve two-year terms and earn $2,700 a year. City Hall is at 5909 N. Milwaukee River Parkway.
Mequon
City - three seats on the Common Council in aldermanic districts 6, 7 and 8, seats now held by John Hawkins, Daniel Gannon and Pamela Adams. Aldermen serve three-year terms and earn $4,800 a year. City Hall is at 11333 N. Cedarburg Road.
Mequon-Thiensville School Board - three seats, now held by Ann Brownfield, Cindy Miske and Michele Ziegler. School Board members serve three-year terms and are not paid. District offices are at 5000 W. Mequon Road, Mequon.
River Hills
Village Board - two seats on the board now held by Michael White and Peggy Russo. Trustees serve three-year terms and are not paid. Village Hall is at 7650 N. Pheasant Lane.
Shorewood
School Board - one position, now held by Paul Zovic. School Board members serve three-year terms and earn $1,000 per year. Zovic is the school board president, elected by the board, and earns $1,300 annually. District offices are at 1701 E. Capitol Drive.
Village Board - Village president, currently held by Guy Johnson. The village president serves a three-year term and earns $1,300 annually. Two seats are up on the Village Board, now held by Jeff Hanewall and Thad Nation. Trustees serve three-year terms and earn $1,000 a year.
Municipal judge, now held by Donal Demet. The judge serves a three-year term and earns $5,000 per year. Village Hall is at 3930 N. Murray Ave.
Thiensville
Village President, a position now held by Karl Hertz. Hertz has announced he will not be a candidate. Van Mobley has announced he will seek the office. There are also two trustee seats, now held by Toni Ihler and Don Molyneux. Trustees serve three-year terms and earn $1,800 per year; village president also serves a three-year term, earning $3,600 per year. Village Hall is at 250 Elm St.
Whitefish Bay
School Board - three seats, currently held by Pam Woodard, Gerry Steele and Kathy Rogers. Members serve three-year terms and earn $1,000 per year. District offices are at 1200 E. Fairmount Ave.
Village Board - two seats, currently held by Kevin Buckley and Richard Foster. Trustees serve three-year terms and earn $600 a year. Village Hall is at 5300 N. Marlborough Drive.
Nicolet Area School Districts
Nicolet School District - two seats, now held by Marilyn Franklin and Jennifer Peltz. Members serve three-year terms and earn $1,000 a year. District offices are at 6700 N. Jean Nicolet Road.
Fox Point-Bayside School District - one seat, now held by Debbie Friberg. Members serve three-year terms and are not paid. District officers are at 7300 N. Lombardy Road, Fox Point.
Glendale-River Hills School District - two seats, now held by Andrew Franklin and Theresa Seem. Members serve three-year terms and earn $540 annually. District offices are at 2600 W. Mill Road, Glendale.
Maple Dale Indian Hill - two seats, currently held by Jane Guffy and Dona Mortara. Terms are three years and there is no pay for service. District offices are at 8377 N. Port Washington Road, Fox Point.
