Below is a listing of the seats on local school and village boards, plus a municipal judge seat, that are up for election April 3. As information becomes available, we will update this column to let you know who is - and is not - running for re-election. Additional information about the elections can be found at your local school district, village or city hall. A primary election will be held Feb. 21 if necessary.
BAYSIDE
Seats: two Village Board trustees
Who's running: incumbents James Peterson and Daniel Muchin plan to seek re-election.
BROWN DEER
Seats: three School Board and two Village Board trustees
Who's running: School Board member Dennis Lowder has announced he will not seek re-election.
FOX POINT
Seats: two Village Board trustees
GLENDALE
Seats: mayor and Common Council seats in districts 2, 4 and 6
MEQUON
Seats: three Common Council members in districts 6, 7 and 8; three Mequon-Thiensville School Board seats
RIVER HILLS
Seats: two Village Board trustees
SHOREWOOD
Seats: one School Board member; village president, two Village Board trustees and municipal judge
Who's running:
Donal Demet, municipal judge since 1997, will seek another three-year term. Demet, 55, lives at 3532 N. Frederick Ave. He and his wife Mary, an elementary teacher at St. Robert School, have six children ages 13 to 27. Demet earned bachelor's degree and law doctorate at Marquette University and master's degree in law from New York University.
He is an attorney practicing at Demet & Demet.
Incumbent Trustee Jeff Hanewall will also seek another three-year term on the Village Board. Hanewall, 46, is completing his sixth year on the board. Married with one son, he lives with his family at 2414 E. Jarvis St. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in architecture. He is a project manager with Engberg Anderson Inc.
THIENSVILLE
Seats: village president and two Village Board trustees
Who's running: Van Mobley has announced he will run for president.
WHITEFISH BAY
Seats: three School Board members; two Village Board trustees
Who's running:
Incumbent Kathy Rogers, 5059 N. Woodburn St., will run. Rogers, 54, is married and has a son. She has a bachelor's degree in secondary education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master's degree in higher education administration from Indiana University and a master's degree in counseling UW-Milwaukee. She is completing her first three-year term on the School Board and currently serves as its president.
Anne Kearney, who ran for the School Board unsuccessfully last year,.Berkeley Blvd. She has a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Illinois and a law doctorate from Harvard University Law School. She is an attorney with Appellate Consulting Group and an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School.
NICOLET-AREA SCHOOL DISTRICTS
Nicolet School District: two seats
Fox Point-Bayside School District: one seat
Glendale-River Hills School District: two seats
Maple Dale Indian Hill: two seats
