Rain falls and damage rises in the North Shore

Bayside: Twenty homes had minor damage, resulting in $75,000 in damage, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
Brown Deer: Village Manager Russell Van Gompel said damage was mostly minor and scattered.
One home suffered major damage and 92 faced minor damage for a total of $1,027,500, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
A large portion of the village between North 51st and 60th Streets and Joleno Lane and Glenbrook Drive lost power for almost 27 hours. The underground parking garage at Stratford Village Apartments flooded, causing an evacuation.
Detention basins at North 51st and Churchill Lane and North 54th Street filled and spilled over roads.
The school district reports the air handlers in ventilation tunnels under Dean School were flooded. They have asbestos insulation and the district is evaluating the next step for their repair.
The village plans to continue to pick up flood debris. Residents can dump items in one of the 12 large Dumpsters scattered about the village or place those items at the curb.
Fox Point: Four homes had major damage and 146 had minor damage for a total of $1,660,000 in damage, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
Glendale: In total, 143 homes were affected, 11 with major damage. Damage costs are $577,500, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
City Administrator Richard Maslowski said one house on Bender Road will be razed as a result of flood damage to basement walls. Another eight homes on North 25th and 26th streets need substantial repairs but will not be razed.
Refuse contractors are in the process of picking up storm-damaged debris this week.
As many as 85 people have stayed at a Red Cross shelter, in Glen Hills Middle School, since it opened. That was before evacuees at a second shelter in the Red Cross headquarters in Milwaukee moved in.
Mequon: The city did some bypassing of raw sewage in the area of County Line and Cedarburg roads because of a back up in the MMSD interceptor sewer on Green Bay Road.
River Hills: No damage reported
Shorewood: Village Manager Chris Swartz said the heavy rains caused unprecedented flooding, involving 185 homes, some for the second time this month, and resulted in $1.48 million in damage. Rainwater topped streets, flooded yards and trapped cars in intersections.
Public Works crews are collecting flood debris that should be placed at the curb.
Whitefish Bay: Assistant Village Manager Matt Schuenke said a revised estimate of damaged homes is now about 500. Of those, 150 faced major damage, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. Fifty to 60 of those homes were flooded during heavy rains overnight July 14-15. Damage is estimated at $9,750,000.
About 30 businesses along Silver Spring Drive may also have damage in basements, he said. The sheriff's office said five businesses faced major damage and 25 had minor damage for a total of $700,000.
The village and its contractors are collecting flood debris placed at the curb.
Village Hall suffered damage to electrical panels and the basement, sending North Shore Dispatch Center employees to Bayside's dispatch center. Schuenke said the dispatch center has been cleaned and sanitized and testing of the equipment is under way, and the center will likely reopen this week.
The school district reports that Whitefish Bay High School, Cumberland and Richards elementary schools were significantly impacted by the storms but will be ready for the start of the school.
Thiensville: Director of Public Works Andy LaFond said the village had nothing more than a few downed tree limbs.
