Redeker will do her best to educate, balance budget
Public Forum:
Ellen Redeker is the best candidate for Nicolet School Board. She is the best candidate because she understands the value of exceptional education and, at the same time, is willing to work within a balanced budget. I encouraged Ellen to run for the Nicolet School Board.
I am a member of the Glendale-River Hills School Board and understand school finances. In 2009, Maple Dale-Indian Hill School District passed referendums to balance their budget resulting in a tax levy increases of 15.42 percent, by far the largest increase of any district in the North Shore. [Editor's note: As reported in North Shore NOW on Oct. 29, the levy increase for Maple Dale-Indian Hill School District reflects $800,000 authorized by voters in an April 2009 referendum. Half of the funds went to balance the district's 2009-2010 budget and half to rebuild the district's fund balance, which was depleted in recent budget years.] In contrast, Ellen is committed to making fiscally responsible decisions. She is committed to providing the finest education possible with the money available.
Ellen is dedicated to education. She is the past president of the Glendale-River Hills School District Foundation; annual funds raised increased from $7,000 in 2001 to $80,000 in 2008 during her involvement on the foundation. She is on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Milwaukee and has volunteered and created mentoring programs for inner city middle school students. If elected, Ellen will promote a learning environment that results in educational proficiency and excellence for all students.
The success of Nicolet High School affects everyone that owns property and lives in the district. Ellen Redeker is well qualified to help lead Nicolet into the future. She has a student at the school, has worked in the banking industry for more than 30 years and will make decisions based on what is best for the education of our students while maintaining a balanced budget. She deserves your vote.
