Incumbent asks for support in re-election bid
Public Forum:
Thank you for supporting me in the recent Nicolet School Board primary election. These unsettling economic times will require board members to make very difficult decisions regarding staffing, class size, offerings, facilities and supplies. It is obvious legislation from Madison and the school funding formula need to be adjusted so our district, like others with declining enrollments, is not overburdened and forced into eliminating many of the things that have made Nicolet so outstanding and excellent. My only interest is to uphold the high standards the Nicolet community has come to expect and to be an advocate on behalf of students and taxpayers.
It is imperative emphasis be placed on long-range budget planning, sound management and labor practices, prioritization of facility needs, energy conservation, user fees and development of new revenue sources such as corporate partnerships. Additionally, decisions about staffing, course offerings and classroom improvements must be made relative to declining enrollments.
Concurrently, there should be continual implementation of updated curriculum, integration of technology, addition of programs to help underachievers and communication with colleges emphasizing rigors of Nicolet. The school environment must continue to promote academic integrity, recognize diversity and foster school spirit.
Ongoing success of Nicolet rests with strong leadership provided by board members. I'm fully aware of the critical financial, educational and legislative challenges ahead and am prepared to be proactive in making decisions representing the best interests of all taxpayers, both those with and without children in the schools.
For the past 21 years I've worked hard to represent this community as a board member. I know choices made now will long impact all our lives, regardless of age. I promise my continued diligence and ask for your support as I seek re-election.
