Former candidate urges residents to vote carefully
Public Forum:
While I am disappointed I did not make it past the primary election for Nicolet School Board, I am more concerned the community understands the important role board members play in setting the priorities of the school.
I understand the budget is of primary concern for many people in our community. It is imperative the board be fiscally responsible to determine ways to contain costs that do not directly affect student achievement. However, the process of making difficult spending decisions would benefit greatly if there was a relationship of trust between the board, administration, teachers, parents, students and community members.
I believe the most important issue we need to confront is the conflicted culture of Nicolet. We need to build collaborative relationships within our school and between school districts. We need to work together to make decisions and policies that are in the best interest of students. It is the board's and superintendent's roles to foster high quality relationships among teachers, students and parents that lead to positive outcomes of trusting school environments.
I hope we, as a community, can have open, thoughtful conversations on how to best use our valuable resources of talented teachers, committed staff, great students, involved parents and taxpayers dollars.
Your vote for board members tells the leadership of Nicolet High School what our community priorities are. Vote carefully.
