1A 78-year-old Mequon man was arrested for drunken driving, unsafe lane deviation and refusal to take a breath test after he was stopped for driving erratically in the 9200 block of North Port Washington Road at 5:25 p.m. Jan. 14. He failed field sobriety tests including an attempt to recite the alphabet - he could not get past the letter Q. He denied drinking and was taken for a blood draw. He was also cited by Glendale Police for hit and run a short time before on Port Washington Road and Brentwood Lane. The man said he didn't remember hitting anything.
2A counterfeit $20 bill was found at Community Bark, 326 W. Brown Deer Road, at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 16. It was sent to the Secret Service office in Milwaukee.
3A 35-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after being stopped for driving without headlights in the 500 block of West Brown Deer Road at 2:48 a.m. Jan. 20. He admitted drinking at a Milwaukee night club and had a preliminary blood alcohol content of 0.165. He was taken for a blood draw.
4A 36-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of narcotic drugs and being the subject of a warrant after a report of a man sleeping in a car outside Culver's, 4327 W. Schroeder Drive, at 7:45 p.m. Jan. 3. The man was disorientated, could not find his wallet or remember his address and fell asleep as police spoke to him. He had both Schedule II and Schedule IV narcotics some he said he'd purchased from a man near Custer High School in Milwaukee. He also admitted being addicted to pain pills since an accident in 1997.
5A 14-year-old Brown Deer boy was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver with the enhancer of possession with intent on school grounds and a warrant for trespassing at Brown Deer High School, 8060 N. 60th St., at 1:40 p.m. Jan. 4. At least three students reported the boy attempted to sell them drugs, one while they rode the school bus. The boy had a blunt in his backpack but said he didn't know how it got there. Another 1.6 grams was found in the squad car which the boy admitted hiding there by pushing it through the hole for the seat belt.
6Items valued at more than $800 including, an electronic tablet, cellphone, passport and cash were taken from a man's locker at YMCA, 9250 N. Green Bay Road, between 5:45 and 8:30 p.m. Jan. 4. The man had used two lockers and was half way home before he realized he'd left his possessions. When he returned, the items were gone.
7A 42-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for forgery and obstruction after attempting to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at Kohl's, 9060 N. Green Bay Road, at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 4. When told the bill was counterfeit, the man asked for it back and left. He was found hiding in a restaurant bathroom and denied knowing the bill was worthless saying he got it when he sold rims to a man on the street.
8A 44-year-old Brown Deer woman was arrested for drunken driving, with a prior conviction, unreasonable speed after being clocked at driving from 60 to 80 mph in a 40 mph zone in the 6400 block of West Brown Deer Road at 1 a.m. Jan. 5. The woman said she was speeding in order to get home and prevent a domestic violence situation. That statement was proved to be false. When told she smelled of alcohol, she said that was because she drank "two little cups of Nyquil" telling police, "Give me a Breathalyzer." Her preliminary blood alcohol content was 0.108 and she was taken for a blood draw.
9Two Brown Deer girls, 13 and 14, were cited for disorderly conduct/fighting at Brown Deer Middle School, 5757 W. Dean Road, at 9:22 a.m. Jan. 9. The girls were pushing and hitting each other and one also hit a teacher who tried to separate them. He was not injured.
10A 16-year-old Brown Deer boy was arrested for disorderly conduct after making threats at Brown Deer High School, 8060 N. 60th St., at 8:50 a.m. Jan. 8. The boy said he was "being disrespected" and people were talking about him and those kinds of things make "people shoot up schools" adding that he wouldn't do that.
11An 18-year-old Brown Deer man was taken into protective custody for disorderly conduct and making threats to harm other students and himself at Brown Deer High School, 8060 N. 60th St., at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 10. The boy said he wouldn't be surprised if "I kill anyone who (expletive) me off" adding that he wanted to "snap their necks."
12A 21-year-old Wauwatosa man was ordered into the District Attorney's office on allegations of theft of a 55-inch TV and a game system with a total value of $2,300 from a friend's home in the 9300 block of North 60th Street at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 15. The man had come to the home about 4 a.m. asking if he could stay for a while and about two hours later, he was seen running in the snow carrying the TV which had been hanging on a wall where he was resting. He denied taking the TV saying there was no TV in the room.
13A speed limit sign was sprayed with silver paint partially obstructing the speed limit of 25 mph in the 7500 block of North Crossway Road sometime before 5 p.m. Jan. 12.
14A $700 laptop computer was taken from a classroom sometime after a teacher left the room with her students at Dunwood School, 217 W. Dunwood Road, the afternoon of Jan. 16.
15A 45-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for drunken driving, failure to have insurance and given 10 days to renew registration in the 5100 block of North Port Washington Road at 1 a.m. Jan. 9. The man, who said he had a couple of beers, had a blood alcohol content of 0.14.
16A person came to the Police Department after finding a bag of crack cocaine in a rental car from Enterprise, 5623 N. Green Bay Ave., at 10 a.m. Jan. 10. The car had been returned recently after being reported stolen from the former renter in Milwaukee.
A resident reported being the victim of a scam after receiving a phone call from her "grandson" who needed money because he was in a Mexican jail at 12:30 p.m. Jan 10. She wired $2,000 via a money gram at a Walmart to a person in Port au Prince, Haiti. She later told police nothing seemed suspicious until she received another call asking for $1,800 for the boy's attorney. It was then she called relatives and found out her grandson, 15, was at school.
17A 19-year-old Cudahy woman was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, a glass pipe with residue, and theft of items valued at more than $160 and a 17-year-old Milwaukee girl for party to the crime of theft at Kohl's, 5650 N. Bayshore Drive, at 12:40 p.m. Jan. 10. The woman was found wearing some of the stolen clothing which was all recovered.
A 31-year-old Glendale man was arrested for battery/domestic violence related after hitting his live-in boyfriend causing injury at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 11. A witness called police after seeing the man punch the victim in the face and chest causing contusions and bleeding. The suspect was agitated and intoxicated and struggled with police. The victim, who was bleeding from the mouth, said his mouth was partially wired from a previous domestic battery by the suspect which he did not report.
18Syringes were found in a parking lot in the 7200 block of North Green Bay Avenue the morning of Jan. 11. Also a gang sign was found on the second floor door to the elevator.
19A student reported the theft of a cellphone valued at $600 from her backpack at Nicolet High School, 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Road, between 9:15 and 10:15 a.m. Jan. 11.
20A 41-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for receiving stolen property, trespassing and three warrants after a report of her taking items valued at more than $320 from Bath and Body Works, 5698 N. Bayshore Drive, at 4:50 p.m. Jan. 11. The woman fled in a car but was stopped in Whitefish Bay and the items were recovered. The woman is banned from Bayshore until September 2014.
21A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft of a pregnancy test containing two tests and two theft warrants at Pick 'n Save, 1735 W. Silver Spring Drive, about 7 p.m. Jan. 11. The woman went into a restroom, tested herself for pregnancy and put the unused test back on the shelf. She left the store followed by an employee saying she was going to get her wallet. The woman was in possession of a drug pipe saying she used it to smoke K2 because it was legal. She also had Ambien which she snorted because she "enjoys the feeling of snorting."
22A lawnmower, bicycle and a grill valued at $300 were taken from a detached garage in the 4600 block of North Ironwood Lane between noon and 10 p.m. Jan. 12. There was no sign of forced entry.
23A $500 laptop computer inside a backpack was taken from a car at Perkin's Restaurant, 5265 N. Port Washington Road, sometime Jan. 14. The backpack was found in a Dumpster near the 3800 block of North Port Washington Road later on Jan. 15. There was no information if the laptop was also recovered. Damage to the car's window was $500.
No reportable incidents this week.
24A van was broken into in the 4000 block of North Larkin Street before 2 p.m. Jan. 12. A list of what was taken is not yet available.
25A 31-year-old Shorewood woman was arrested for theft of checks belonging to her ex-boyfriend in the 1600 block of North Oakland Avenue on Jan. 15. The woman forged his signature on 10 checks cashing them for a total of $400. The woman will pay restitution.
26A purse and contents including a diamond ring and wedding bands valued at more than $1,100 was taken from a car parked at Sendik's, 4027 N. Oakland Ave., between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 14. There was no sign of forced entry.
27A resident reported that as she lay in bed, an unknown male appeared at the bedroom door and when he saw her he fled the home in the 1800 block of East Jarvis Street about 9:45 p.m. Jan. 14. The woman had heard footsteps coming upstairs and thought it was her husband, who had been working in the basement. She also said her children were sleeping in another bedroom. The intruder took an AT&T cable box, a leather bag and a purse valued at more than $300. The home was unsecured. No one was injured.
28A 52-year-old Milwaukee man was mailed citations for hit and run and failure to notify police of an accident after a car registered to him was driven over private property damaging a fence in the 3900 block of North Morris Boulevard about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 15. A witness saw the driver, a male, hit the fence, get out of the car, look at the damage then drive away. That witness gave police the plate number. Damage was $1,000.
29A 13-inch laptop computer and an electronic tablet valued at more than $2.000 were taken during a burglary at the United Methodist Church, 819 East Silver Spring Drive, between 5 and 7 p.m. Jan. 15. There was sign of forced entry to the pastor's office.
30A Whitefish Bay girl was the victim of a robbery as she walked in the 4900 block of North Ardmore Avenue at 6:55 p.m. Jan. 15. Two males came up from behind her and grabbed her shoulder bag holding a book, jacket and other items valued at about $165. They ran off and got into what she thought was a small, possibly maroon, car. She called her mother who called police. On Jan. 16 and 17, two boys/juveniles were questioned regarding the crime and given an intake date to appear at Milwaukee County Children's Court. One of the boys, not admitting being involved, did say they thought about robbing a man who was walking in the area but stopped when they saw he had a dog. In addition, a 19-year-old Milwaukee man, the driver, was also ordered in to County Court for theft/party to the crime of theft and also cited for driving with an expired registration.
31Three TVs and a laptop computer valued at $2,200 were taken during a burglary in the 2100 block of East Glendale Avenue between noon and 4 p.m. Jan. 17. There was no sign of forced entry.
32A wallet was taken at Sendik's, 500 E. Silver Spring Drive, between 4:30 and 5:10 p.m. Jan. 17. Two debit cards and one credit card had been used.
Rocks were used to break the windows of two cars in the 600 block of East Lake View Avenue and the 5500 block of North Lake Drive overnight Jan. 18 or 19. The amount of damage was not listed and nothing was reported taken.
33A tote bag, value not listed, was reported taken from an unsecured garage in the 4900 block of North Wildwood Avenue on Jan. 20.
34A smartphone valued at $175 was taken from an unlocked man's locker at the Jewish Community Center, 6255 N. Santa Monica Blvd., sometime 3:30 to 5 p.m. Jan. 20.
NORTH SHORE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded to 112 calls, 83 emergency medical and 29 fire/rescue, Jan. 14 to 20.
35A car crashed into a large clay planter pushing it up near the front entrance at Pearl Vision, 695 W. Silver Spring Drive, Glendale, at 11:50 a.m. Jan. 18. No injuries were reported and there was only minor damage to the car. Damage to the building is being evaluated.
