Benjamin Geiger of Mequon earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in December.

Kyle Gemas of Thiensville earned his bachelor's degree in finance and entrepreneurship from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Madeleine Cohen of Whitefish Bay made the fall semester dean's list at Boston University in Massachusetts.

The following students made the fall semester dean's list at St. Norbert College in De Pere: from Mequon, Colleen Shore; from Shorewood, Caitlin Petersen; from Thiensville, Lauren Gleisberg, Samuel Morris and Madaline Wienser; and from Whitefish Bay, JoAnna Ruppa.

Janis Reynolds made the fall semester dean's list at McNeese State University in Louisiana.

Marshall Sumwalt of Mequon made the fall semester dean's list at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan.


Mary Gielow of Mequon was appointed to the Wisconsin Arts Board, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Arts, headquartered in Madison under the Department of Tourism and governed by a 15-member, statewide board appointed by the governor to serve three-year terms. Gielow owns a public relations and author tour company, Luminaries, founded in 1989. Luminaries clients include the Cedar Creek Settlement Merchants Association in Cedarburg, of which she is the executive director. She was publicity chair of Cedarburg Festivals for 20 years. She is currently on the board of the Mequon-Thiensville Library and Festivals of Cedarburg and was formerly a council member and chairman of the Wisconsin Humanities Council, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. She is a charter member and volunteer with the Cedarburg Christmas Committee and the Junior League of Milwaukee and was named JLM Sustainer of the Year in 2006. She has been a board member for the Rite Hite YMCA and a volunteer with the Milwaukee Symphony League, Gathering on the Green, the UWM Peck School of the Arts, Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design Scholarship Board and Future Milwaukee. Her professional organizations include Professional Dimensions and the Milwaukee Press Club.
