Weir-Welygan

Nicole Weir and Robert Welygan were married Sept. 19, 2009, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Madison.

Parents of the bride are Ronald and Barbara Weir of Fountain Hills, Ariz., formerly of Whitefish Bay. Parents of the groom are Dennis and Sylvia Welygan of Woodbury, Minn.

The Rev. Michael Hippee officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Tripp Commons at Memorial Union in Madison.

The bride wore a champagne satin gown with a beaded bodice and carried a bouquet of red roses.

Maid of honor was Elizabeth Mucklin of Whitefish Bay, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jenny Sturino of Whitefish Bay, Katie Sturino of Whitefish Bay, Diana Stahle of Whitefish Bay, Lauren Bakken of Madison, Nicole Bonifas of Madison and Annie Trimberger of Madison.

Best man was Daniel Welygan of Seattle, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Michael Weir of Whitefish Bay, Sean Sabottka, Aaron Schilz, Christopher Rooney, Michael Laux, Louis John Janowski and Stephen Bartha.

The bride, a 2000 graduate of Whitefish Bay High School, earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2004 and her law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2007. She is an attorney at Corneille Law Group in Madison.

The groom, a 2000 graduate of Woodbury High School, also earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2004 and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2007. He is a public defender at the District Attorney's Office in Pestigo.

The groom proposed on the balcony of Tripp Commons, and the couple won the student lottery to use Tripp Commons for their wedding reception.

They honeymooned in St. Lucia and reside in Madison.
