Adelaide Gardiner
Adelaide "Addie" Gardiner (nee Kellner) of Whitefish Bay died June 15, 2009, at age 89.
She was a graduate of Milwaukee State Teachers College and obtained her master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She was a longtime teacher in the Whitefish Bay School system and Indian Hill School.
After her retirement, Adelaide spent much of her time as a volunteer, tutoring children and working with the Interfaith Community. She was a longtime member of United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay and active in the Bell and Church choirs. Adelaide spent many summers enjoying time with her family at the cottage along the shores of Lake Michigan. She had a true love for music, playing the flute, a good game of bridge, a fun round of golf and cross country skiing. But Adelaide's true pride and joy in life was her family, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Anne (Scott) Burns and Thomas Gardiner; grandchildren, Phoebe Katsel and Nate, Seth and Ian Gardiner, Brendan and Alexandra Burns, Timothy, Elizabeth and Joseph Scanlan; sister, Lillian O'Hagen; son-in-law, Thomas Scanlan; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jack Gardiner; and children, John D. Gardiner and Peggy Scanlan.
Service was June 19 at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay, Whitefish Bay. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Memorials are suggested to Shoreline Interfaith, 1200 E. Hampton Road, Whitefish Bay, WI 53217.
