William Reckmeyer II
William Reckmeyer II of Whitefish Bay died May 3, 2009, at age 74.
He grew up on the east side of Milwaukee, attended Country Day High School and Northwestern University, where he met his wife-to-be, Jane.
He served his country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. After service, he returned to Milwaukee and worked for M&I Bank for two years before entering his family business, Reckmeyer Furriers. He was the third generation to own and operate the business before he retired in 1996.
He was an avid racket sports player and loved to share his passion for the outdoors with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed the northern lakes of Wisconsin and spending time at Lake Julia in Three Lakes.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane Reckmeyer (nee Kaiser); children, William (Sheila), Peter (Lisa), Amy (Tom Jr.) Kuesel, Victor and John (Jennifer); grandchildren, Emily, Meghan, Will, Rohde, Jack Henry, Madeline, Max, Grace, Edy, Jack, Adam, Samantha and Hannah; sister, Ann (Don) Kobs; brother-in-law, Nicholas (Helen) Kaiser; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Bunny (Herb) Schmidt; and daughter-in-law, Tracy Reckmeyer (nee Donner).
The funeral service was May 7 at Christ Episcopal Church, Whitefish Bay. Interment was at Eagle River.

The family thanks Dr. James Volberding, Dr. Lyle Henry and all the caregivers of the outpatient department of Columbia Hospital.
