Richard Speller Hodgins
Richard Speller Hodgins of Whitefish Bay and Shorewood died May 5, 2009, at age 87.
He was a graduate of Shorewood High School and active in the Silver Greyhounds. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in electrical engineering and was a loyal Badger. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II and was retired from Globe Union – Johnson Controls after three decades of service.
He is survived by his special friend and companion, Lyn Raffensperger; children, Keith (Dana) Hodgins and Tracy (John) Gobis; grandchildren, Tristan, Kyle, Dan, Michael and Joe; brother, Don (Dorothy) Hodgins; sister- and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Richard Polito; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; and lifelong friend, Bill Hays.
The funeral service was May 9 at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay. Interment with full military honors followed at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services handled the arrangements.
