Pride of Prejudice

Business, climate change, County Government, Election, Energy, Government, News, Politics, Presidential Politics, Religion, Smoking, taxes

I am getting sick and tired of Sonya Sotomayor and the over-coverage the media is providing with it. I'm tired of the spineless Senate saying no one is going to go against the confirmation. I'm tired of the historical aspect of it. And I'm tired of seeing her homely face. Here's another accolade for her: homeliest Supreme Court Justice. She even beats out Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the ugly department.

I was led to believe that as of the election last November, America was going to enter the post-racial era. It was going to be more like Martin Luther King. We would not care what the person next to us looked like or where they came from. All that mattered was the size of their heart and the strength of their character. The only qualification to be used for selecting a Supreme Court justice was race. And perhaps sex. All we knew was that it was not going to be a white man.

I'm also sick of hearing that Sonya Sotomayor has an interesting story. Well, la dee freakin’ da. Everybody in America has an interesting story-except for the people whose best moments in life were centered around listening to a Michael Jackson record, watching a circus parade, or watching Bret Favre. If we have accomplished anything in our lives, we have an interesting story.

I'm sick and tired of hearing people wonder what Sonya Sotomayor stance on abortion is. I don't care. What will affect me and many other Americans as if she is going to decide to legislate from the bench like they do here in Wisconsin.

Speaking of Wisconsin, both of our senators are on the judiciary committee. Herb Kohl came out and said that he is going to softball the committee hearings. After 20 years of being the senator from Wisconsin, I didn't expect any balls on Herb. Admittedly nothing is coming. The balance of the court is not going to be tipped so there's really no controversy here. Are we going to receive judicial activism? One thing is for sure, we are not getting a strict constitutionalist.
