Stealing "For the Children"

It has been demonstrated time and again that many people who start a home-based business, or a small business based on "helping people", becomes a license to steal from public funds. But if it has anything to do with the program where we think a child is involved, people tend to look the other way.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has again exposed cases of people who are in the childcare business that are more interested in lining their own pockets the effect been looking out for the children. Again we have cases of multiple people who claim that they are taking care of more children than they actually are, hiring more people than they actually are, in thinking they are smarter than others than they actually are.

What Would Teddy Do?

August has not been a good month for President Barack Obama or the Democrats in Congress. Especially trying to gain momentum for their failing health reform bill HR 3200. Hopefully September will continue in that direction.

The Democrats have been trying everything. Demonizing the insurance companies, demonizing the constituents, demonizing the blue dogs, demonizing the demons. Yet they can't seem to get a foothold to reverse their declining poll numbers.

What Can I Do To Help the President?

Once again the liberals and Democrats don't seem to get it. Barack Obama was elected as a candidate of hope. Along with that hope, he promised to bring some bipartisanship. Bipartisanship is yet to be seen. He was supposed to bring people together. The country is becoming more polarized. The country was viewed to be going in the wrong direction and he was to put it in the right direction. What he has brought in the name of change has put us on a worse course.

The president's administration can no longer effectively or honestly refute charges of socialism and communism. In last year's campaign, candidate Obama said he associated with people like Warren Buffett and former Fed chairman Paul Volker on issues of the economy. As president, Barack Obama has brought into his circle of advisers Van Jones who was an admitted communist. Jones recently put out a statement saying that he never held views of communism. Are Americans supposed to believe that? He has since resigned so that's a step in the right direction.

Some Things Old, Some Things New, Some Things Borrowed, Some Things Untrue

In order to forge ahead with the government take over of health care, the Democrats in Congress needed a game changer. Last week's presidential address to a joint session of Congress was not a game changer they were looking for or needed.

Instead we got what we have come to expect from President. Barack Obama. He chose to come out in campaign form and talk about his plan for health care reform. Like a campaigner, he has no plan in writing. Yet he referred to it again and again. This would tend to confuse someone who is looking for concrete details-like most of America. The president I can use his tired slogans and catch phrases geared towards making it on the mainstream media. Apparently it worked for him because again and again they quote a catch phrase calling for an end to bickering.

Wasted and Abused

There are some things that keep bothering me in some of speeches that President Barack Obama presents regarding his health care plan. But the mainstream media does not cover them. Cable news does not cover them. So how am I supposed to expect answers to the questions that I have? No one will ask them for me. No one will answer them for me.

When it comes to paying for this new health care plan, where will the money be coming from? The administration seems to be leading us to believe that they will not come from deficit spending. The administration also seems to be leading us to believe that they will not come from increased taxes. Well, not taxes on the middle class but just new taxes on the wealthy. That seems to be demanding a lot from a small number of people, but because I won't be one of them, it does not bother me. But, the administration also says that at least half of the money will come from cutting waste and inefficiencies, fraud and abuse from Medicare. Was there that much waste and abuse in Medicare? If there is, why do we need a bill that will overhaul the entire system in order to target this waste and abuse?

Jimmy Carter Becomes Even More Irrelevant

Business, climate change, County Government, Election, Energy, Government, News, Politics, Presidential Politics, Religion, Smoking, taxes

Jimmy Carter was elected president in 1976 as a result of the country becoming fed up and disgusted with the Republicans because of Watergate in the pardon of Richard Nixon. It was a Washington outsider and was swept into office with a close vote total and high expectations. He became a mediocre president with marginal effectiveness. His campaign created what was called the misery index. It added up the inflation rate and the unemployment rate. He campaigned on the notion that if someone had a misery index greater than 10%, they should not be president. When Carter left office in 1980, his very own misery index was about 20%.

Carter gave a speech to the American people on why we shouldn't be using less energy as a country. He practically scolded the American people for what they were doing. This was called his "malaise speech." Carter quit wearing a suit every day and was often seen wearing sweaters and less formal attire. It was a distraction for people who want our president to look presidential. This of course did not help them either.

The New Cost of Heath Care

The Democrats have come up with a new health care bill that is going to provide government takeover of the health care system for a reduced price that was once around $1 trillion and has now been reduced to the low, low price of $856 billion. This new plan does not include a public option. Two weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid vowed publicly that they would not support any of their reform bill that did not include a public option. Why the change?

The Congressional Budget Office did an analysis of the healthcare bill being proposed and concluded that it would be adding to the deficit over the ten-year period. After a meeting at the White House, the CBO came back and concluded that the health care reform bill would not add to the deficit. How did this change come about? The American people are not going to get a plausible answer.

Obama to Bring World Peace

The schoolchildren are finally learning a new song to sing the praises of the accomplishments of the current occupant of the White House. One has to ask, why did it take so long? The children had to wait eight months to learn a new song that praises equal pay for equal work. Why are the schoolchildren being forced to sing about equal pay? Should they just be singing about equality of outcome?

When I was a boy in grade school, we saying about how George Washington chopped down the cherry tree. Was not too much of an accomplishment, and on top of that George Washington had been dead for over 150 years. When I was a boy in grade school, we saying about how Abraham Lincoln never told a lie. The sad thing about this is that it was included in the same song as the George Washington incident. We did not have enough verse to complete a song about one president. Thank goodness times have changed.

Obama has Priorities Wrong

Business, climate change, County Government, Election, Energy, Government, News, Politics, Presidential Politics, Religion, Smoking, taxes

America is clearly on the wrong track. Only a year ago there were plenty of naysayers who were panicked because they believed America was on the wrong track. Well, were on a different track now yet the future looks even bleaker.

President Barack Obama is demonstrating that he has the wrong idea where he's for his administration which are leading America down the wrong path. As a candidate, Obama was proud of his commitment to grassroots organizations such as Acorn by coating his experience as a community organizer. Now that Acorn has been exposed as a corrupt organization, so corrupt that Congress has cut off all funding to it, Obama suddenly has no knowledge that Acorn has even received federal funding. Yet, Obama accuses others as having selective memories when they have the audacity, or the objectivity to recognize how wrong the President's agenda is. What are his priorities?

The Empire Strikes Out

Business, climate change, County Government, Election, Energy, Government, News, Politics, Presidential Politics, Religion, Smoking, taxes

The Empire State building in New York City is aglow in red lights to honor the Communists in China. From 1949 to 2008 such recognition in the United States of America would've seemed unbelievable. What has happened? Has political correctness taken us to honor communism? Or is this a trial balloon for the direction of America?

The lefties in America explain this away as the fulfillment of the promise made last November. The presidential election was about change. What kind of change? The shift to government takeover of all aspects of our lives was more than we bargained for. It is more than we hoped for. The economic recession has spurred communism as an ideology that is right for America according to the left. We see it in the stimulus bill. We will see it in a health care bill. We will see it in a Cap and Trade bill. And this is just the first year.
