With the Senate race here in Wisconsin, there really is no need to take an interest in a Senate race in Pennsylvania. There's not much excitement going on with the race here, so why is Pennsylvania important?
Senator Arlen Specter, one-time Democrat, longtime Republican, and newly converted Democrat again, changed parties to save one job-his. Well, it didn't work. Specter was in the Senate for about 30 years, and in the Senate, seniority is everything. Specter could bring home the bacon for Pennsylvania, so keeping him in the Senate would have been in the best interest for the citizens of Pennsylvania. Here in Wisconsin, it doesn't matter because no senator brings home anything. But that's another story.
A couple of weeks ago, it looked like the Obama administration was not taking charge of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. But recently, President Obama came out and said that he was in charge and the buck stops with him. At first, I found that hard to believe. But after some reflection and looking at the facts, I can now see that the Obama administration was in charge from day one. As they say, the proof is in the pudding. Let's take a look at that pudding.
The oil has been gushing nonstop since at least April 20. There is then chaos and confusion as to how to stop it fast and efficiently. This is certainly the thumbprint of the Obama administration and its agility. Every effort to control this spill has failed. Every idea has been wrong. Sounds like the federal government to me.
We are closing in on the second month of having crude oil gush from the floor of the Gulf of Mexico. This is then called the worst oil spill in American history. It is also working towards another worst-worst managed crisis in American history.
BP is being blamed for the entire spill. I'm certainly not here to defend them because I do not have a stake in the outcome. However, the way the Obama administration is handling this crisis is equally shameful. In every rate of history, resident Obama claims that he has been on the scene since day one. Looking at the results, the statement could almost be true. Every success failed, every idea has been wrong. And if President Obama believes that government is the answer to this problem, well then let's hold him accountable too.
In true progressive form, we can apply a double standard and feel good about it. Because of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, we have a common hate: BP. And through this common hate, we can publicly extort, shakedown, and make hateful statements about this company and feel good about it. It's practically patriotic.
Even though President Barrack Obama, has claimed responsibility for the cleanup and stopping of the oil spill, it continues. And because President Obama has publicly acknowledged that he cannot do anything about it, the best thing to do is to create a diversion. Even though President Obama has said that he will not rest until every one wants a job will find one, the Gulf of Mexico is cleaned up and restored, (your subject here), etc., President Obama has found time to hold a private concert in the White House, take a vacation to Chicago, play round after round of golf, etc., the mainstream media has absolutely no problem with this. They say Obama need some down time even as president.
The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico clearly out of hand, the Obama administration is creating a diversion to hopefully get that failure of policy out of the headlines. Showing that the Obama administration has a thirst for controlling the message of the media like Pravda did for the Soviet Union, the administration came out with a propaganda piece called the Recovery Summer. What a pile of crap this is.
The only person in the administration who can come out with a straight face and talk about how well the stimulus act as word is Joe Biden. From time to time he comes out and tells how well the recovery act has done in bringing us all of the recession. Biden breaks about how many jobs the administration has created. And we can't forget that bogus number of them all; the number of jobs saved. Just about a year and a half ago, the Obama administration promised the American people that the unemployment rate would not go above 8% if they pass the recovery act. Well, we committed to spending over $862 billion in the unemployment rate has been above 8% entire time. That's even counting the temporary jobs for the census workers several times over. Perhaps Congress will be generous enough to pass a bill making these temporary jobs permanent. After all, they can be union jobs and they can count how many people are joining unions. It just seems right for America.
Peggy West is a big fat idiot. And I say that with the endearment and admiration that Joe Biden often displays. Isn't it great when we can take a phrase from another great Democrat-Al Franken-and paraphrase it into a situation that is relevant today. Only liberals don't like it when you use their own logic against them. I won't spend a lot of time examining the statement that she made, I'll let others do that. But the fact that someone would say it's and believe it at the time it is simply astonishing.
This is clearly indicative of what's wrong with politics today. People are in office-usually liberals and progressives-that are just plain dumb. They take positions and make statements about things that are just plain ignorant and yet they believe they are right. But Arizona law is a perfect example. People don't know what's in it, they just know they're against it. People wouldn't even know that they had laws in Arizona if the left wing media would not come out and say that they are bad laws. Not having read them, people take the position that they know what they are talking about. Unfortunately, there are many people like this in America today. I guess that explains why President Obama still has a 45% approval rating.
